Peter Kemball
Peter Kemball is the CEO and founder of Acorn Partners.

Prior to founding Acorn Partners Mr. Kemball co-founded a financial services firm-Kemball Fund Management, a Limited Market Dealer specialized in raising funds for early stage firms. This business evolved out of his earlier firm-Practical Concepts Inc., which had provided management consulting and policy advice to government and business since 1976.

Mr. Kemball has also held senior positions with Coopers and Lybrand, and with Operations Research Inc. in Washington DC. He was employed by The Treasury Board of the Canadian Government and The Industrial Development Bank (now BDC).

Mr. Kemball served as the founding Chairman of the Ottawa Carleton Economic Development Corporation (now OCRI) committee on venture capital and as a member of the board of the Innovation Centre at the University of Ottawa. Peter holds an Engineering degree and an MBA from McGill University.

R. Andy Chen
R. Andy Chen is the Senior Account Manager for Acorn Partners and is responsible for ongoing client and investor relations. Previously, he worked as the Chief Accountant for a private company in Mainland China and as a Financial Analyst and Accountant in a merchant bank for four years. He completed his MBA at the University of Ottawa in 2000 and is currently enrolled in both the CFA and CGA programs.





Michael Edwards C.A.
Michael Edwards is the Controller for Acorn Partners. He also operates a public accounting practice. From 1974 to 1994 he owned and operated D. Kemp Edwards, a fine millwork & lumberyard with $6,000,000 in annual sales and a workforce of 100 people.

Peter Corbiere, Associate
Peter Corbiere is a management consultant and an accomplished business owner. Peter has achieved successes in the area of sales and sales management. They include a new business start up of a textile sales agency, establishing and managing a US and Canadian independent sales network for an International manufacturer and developing a sales channel for the Canadian market entry of an Asian manufacturer.

Peter has also been successful in new product launches by developing market entry strategies and sales networks to major retailers in Canada and the USA. Additionally, Peter has provided assistance to companies looking to develop Government business and major sponsorships in the sports marketing arena.

Peter gives workshops on Strategic Marketing, Selling Successfully and curbside training for sales representatives.

Board of Advisors

Richard Bertrand
Richard Bertrand Chairs the Board of Advisors for Acorn Partners. He continues as Chair of the Audit Committee of Dynex Power Inc., and in mid-2003 completed a contract as President of In-Touch Survey Systems. Both of these firms are listed on the TSX Venture Exchange.

Mr. Bertrand was Chairman of the Board of Northwood Technologies Inc., Northeastern Solutions Inc., and a member of the Board of Montage e-Integration Inc., prior to their purchases. He is also Chair of the CS Coop and CS Alterna Bank. He was an owner of ECL Executive Consultants and Vice President of Marketing of SHL Systemshouse. He has just completed a term as Chairman of the Board of the University of Ottawa. He holds B.Sc. from McGill University and an MBA from The University of Ottawa.

William H. Terry
Bill Terry is a member of The Board of Advisors. Following his retirement from the Public Service Mr. Terry was the founding President and CEO of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS), an international organization supported by the private sectors and governments of Japan, the European Union, the USA, Canada and Australia. IMS had as its mandate the encouragement of research into and introduction of advanced manufacturing technology into the world manufacturing community. Prior to this he was Director General of the Manufacturing and Processing Technologies Branch at Industry Canada. He worked at the Conference Board, P.S. Ross and Partners management consultants (now Deloitte and Touche) and Royal Trust prior to joining the Public Service.

Bill holds a commerce degree from McGill and an MBA from The School of Business at The University of Western Ontario.

James Petrie
Mr. Petrie has many years of hands on business experience as an owner operator of successful small to mid-sized business.

For 17 years Mr. Petrie operated and eventually owned S.C. Walker Mfg. Over that period he was involved in every aspect of the company guiding it through rapid growth until it became one of the largest of its kind in Canada.

Subsequently he owned a US based hi-tech company, which was a unique combination of a start up and a turnaround. He stabilized and restructured the company and took it public.

Currently he is president of JMAK Holdings, which provides financial, administrative and manufacturing advice to companies looking to reorganize.

Mr. Petrie is advisor to or on the board of a number of private companies.
