Founded in 1993 by Peter Kemball, Acorn Partners began as a local company that factored receivables for Ottawa area firms.

Today, Acorn Partners is a national company providing custom-tailored financial solutions to Canadian businesses selling domestically and internationally.
 
With a specialty and focus in providing working capital to early stage, high growth companies, Acorn Partners also has the experience and expertise to assist existing businesses who are facing financial challenges.
 
The people at Acorn Partners bring unique talents to contribute to understanding the challenges each client faces and have the collective ability to present solutions to assist their clients meet their goals.
 



Team Biographies

  • Head Office - Ottawa

 
Prior to founding Acorn Partners, Mr. Kemball co-founded a financial services firm as well as founding Kemball Fund Management, a Limited Market Dealer specialized in raising funds for early stage firms. This business evolved out of his earlier firm, Practical Concepts Inc., which provided management consulting and policy advice to government and business.
Mr. Kemball has also held positions with Coopers and Lybrand in Ottawa and Operations Research Inc. in Washington DC. He was employed by The Treasury Board of the Canadian Federal Government, DuPont of Canada and The Industrial Development Bank (now BDC).
 
Mr. Kemball served as Chairman of the Ottawa Carleton Economic Development Corporation’s (now OCRI) committee on venture capital and as a member of the board of the Innovation Centre at the University of Ottawa. Peter holds an Engineering degree and an MBA from McGill University and a BA from Concordia.
 
 
 
Bonnie has over 25 years experience in senior financial positions in technology companies in the Ottawa area, including time spent with large company spin-offs, like TMI Communications, public company situations, such as BIO LOGICALS, and green-field start-ups, such as Atsana Semiconductor. To add value to her client base, Bonnie also brings several years experience as a venture capitalist with Working Ventures Canadian Fund. Bonnie is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Secretary. She spent the first seven years of her accounting career at Clarkson Gordon (now Ernst & Young).
 

 

 
 
 
Rick is a business development professional and entrepreneur with over 30 years experience working with multi national companies to develop new product lines to meet the changing needs of their clients. Through superior customer relations practice, Rick finds solutions to the challenges facing many clients.
 
 

 

 
 
Kevin’s professional background is in finance where he had been responsible for accounting, controllership, treasury management, staff supervision and administration for a number of BC companies including technology start-ups.
 
Kevin utilizes his strong financial background to assist his clients understand and meet their working capital needs not just for today but for the future.
